Health & Nutrition

Health and nutrition have been the major concerns of our society today. To a great extent the enhancement of community health care depends on the generosity of philanthropic contributions. Having realized such ideal the foundation has made significant contributions towards the health & wellness of the under-privileged and the sick,living around the Bhimavaram division.

  • February, 2019 : Worth Rs.5 Lacs for Vehicle parking sheds, Gates , fencing and concreting of floor etc. work done for Government Hospital , Bhimavaram.

  • A cash donation of Rs. 10 Lakhs was given to F. M. L leprosy patients in Sringravriksham near Bhimavaram and Rs . 2 Lakhs to Leprosy hospital in Narsapuram, W.G District. A community hall was also constructed at FML leprosy center.

  • 100 bags of paddy are donated every year to feed the patients at the F.M.L. Leprosy Center and 100 bags of paddy are donated to Leprosy hospital in Narsapuram. 200 bags of paddy are donated to Leprosy Center in 19th ward of Bhimavaram. TheFoundation is paying Rs 6,800/- p.m . towards pensions to leprosy patients in 7th ward (earlier 19th ward) of Bhimavaram depending upon the severity of their infection. Old age pensions are also being given by the Foundation.

  • A donation of Rs. 2.00 Lakhs was given to Bethesda ( Leprosy ) Hospital at Narasapuram, West Godavari Districtrict.

  • Rs. 50,000/- worth of medicines for Leprosy patients and another Rs. 50,000/- worth of medicines for AIDS patients are given every year to St. Mary ‘s Leprosy Center , Bhimavaram.

  • An amount of Rs. 5,000/- p.m is spent towards arranging nutritional food to the children affected by Leprosy and HIV . In addition to it, 150 children are provided with note books and schoolbags.

  • Feeding the poor is done at regular intervals by the Foundation and financial assistance is provided to the patients suffering from chronic diseases and ailments.

  • We have a Vishnu Dental satellite Clinics in 37 diffrent places in Andhra Pradesh,where the patients are screened and offered preventive and curative care regularly.

  • Health education is given using audio-visual aids to school children emphasizing the importance of oral health and general health.
  • The department of pedodontics organizes school dental health camps regularly in primary and high schools in West Godavari District.

  • The foundation has collaborations with Lions Club of West Godavari District, IDA – Colgate , Rotary club,Vasuda foundation and Sri Kamakshi Devi Trust.
Vishnu dental college is a non-profit organization where treatment charges are nominal and usually cover material costs only. Economically weak sections are provided free treatment. The foundation renders free service to the following:
  • Kalyani rural rehabilitation Center for mentally challenged children – Narsapur.

  • Andhra blind school – Narsapur.

  • Sri Venkateswara school for the deaf / dumb – Bhimavaram

Inaugurated on the 15th of April 2007 by Sri Rameswara Rao, CMD, My Home cements, Radio Vishnu 90.4 CR is the first ever FM Radio to be set up by an educational institute in the entire region of Andhra Pradesh. The channel operates on non commercial, non political and non religious basis. The programs are a variety mix of education, entertainment, social and community service. Special efforts are made to give health education to rural population through FM. Department of Science & Technology, Government of India has sanctioned Rs.7.5 lakhs towards broadcasting 182 episodes through Radio Vishnu 90.4 CR on "Science for Women's Health & Nutrition".

Transmitting infotainment programs for 12 hours, Radio Vishnu 90.4 Community Radio is serving nearly 50 villages in the surrounding area. A unique programme to be mentioned is Bala Vinodhini, which is a children’s programme and is encouraging and involving children from 24 government schools in and around Bhimavaram.

As a part of Science for Women Health and Nutition, DST sponsored following 2 Projects:

  • Maa Voori Amma" - 182 Episodes Broadcasted (Project grant Rs.7,20,000/-)

  • Aadabidda Arogyam - 365 Episodes Broadcasted (Project grant Rs.14,60,000/-)
  • The Assistive Technology Lab (ATL) in Shri Vishnu Engineering College for Women (SVECW), Bhimavaram, W. G. Dt, Andhra Pradesh is a vision of Shri K. V. Vishnu Raju, the Chairman of Sri Vishnu Educational Society, to utilize the skills of every engineering department of the college for the development of Assistive Technology. It is a unique venture which combines technology with human purpose. It was set up in 2009 and works in collaboration with University of Massachusetts (UMass), Lowell, USA.

  • Assistive Technology Lab works for a very unique and a noble cause of designing projects by the students of SVECW to benefit the differently-abled. This is a small but definite step to mainstream people with disabilities into society. Professor Alan Rux , founder of the Assistive Technology Program at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, USA, visits SVECW every year in the month of July and guides students in developing projects related to Assistive Technology.

Stick for the Blind, Third Eye for Visually Challenged and Elderly People, Interactive Number Learning System for Mentally Children, Audio Visual Learning Aids for Mentally Challenged Children, Versatile Wheel Chair for Physically Challenged and Elderly People , Sound Alert System for Hearing Challenged People among many others
