Kumudavalli
Lack of proper laboratory facilities has been a handicap faced by many government schools in the vicinity of Bhimavaram. The B.V.Raju Knowledge Center, the brain child of Sri K.V.Vishnu Raju, was established in the year 2006 as a nodal Center of excellence to spread the seeds of education among rural population. It was set up in Kumudavalli ,with an inspiration to provide quality primary education to children from rural schools where infrastructural and laboratory facilities are not available.
The Knowledge Center has the capacity to accommodate 120 students and is equipped with Physics,Biology,Chemistry,Computer laboratories in addition to the state-of-the-art Robotics and English Language Learning laboratories. The main aim is to facilitate students from 6 to 10 classes to gain knowledge through first hand experimentation. Apart from this the Center also has a well-stocked library, computer with internet facility, L.C.D projectors, teaching aids, audio-visual aids, scientific equipment and models, subject CD's which can be availed by the students of VI to X classes.
The Knowledge Center has taken under its wings the school going children of Zilla Parishad High Schools of the surrounding villages falling within the 15 – kilometre radius around the Center. The innovative idea of imparting hands on – experience to high school students in the broad fields of science and technology got its hold to the extent of attracting more students to the Knowledge Center . At present 28 schools are utilising the services of the Knowledge Center and so far nearly one lakh students have benefitted from it.In an attempt to motivate and encourage children to greater heights, a talent test is conducted every year to the students attending the Knowledge Center and the toppers are awarded cash prizes. In addition to this, a computer training programme is being arranged during summer vacation especially for rural women and SSC outgoing students to impart a working knowledge of computers.
