Water supply and sanitation
Despite the best efforts of all concerned, drinking water supply and sanitation continue to be inadequate in many communities. Depleting ground water table and deteriorating ground water quality are threatening the sustainability of rural water supply.The lack of adequate sanitation and safe water has significant negative health impacts including diarrhoea. There is a need for serious initiatives to improve the rural drinking water and sanitation. Vishnu Center works with an objective to provide safe drinking water to communities in need.
- Spent about Rs.7.50 lacs towards RCC underground drainage system in Kovvada-Annavaram village.
- As of now, donated an amount of Rs.2 lacs towards construction of 50 individual household toilets to end open defecation Kovvada-Annavaram village. Total allocated budget is Rs.10 lacs.
- During summer season water is supplied with the help of tankers of the foundation to the villages surrounding Bhimavaram, WG. District, A.P.
- A mineral water plant worth Rs. 10 Lakhs has been constructed and is maintained by the foundation at Dirusumarru village, WG. District, A.P.
- A Mineral Water Treatment Plant has been established under NTR Sujaladhara scheme by spending an amount of Rs.7.00 lacs in Kovvada-Annavaram village.
- Water from Bhimavaram Municipal overhead tank is distributed by water tankers of the foundation to Durgapuram and other areas. The cost of operation of these vehicles is about Rs.20,000/- per month.
- 3 acres of land was donated to Kumudavalli Panchayat WG. District, A.P. for the construction of a water storage tank for drinking water purposes. Financial assistance was also given by the foundation for Sujaladhara Scheme for drinking water.
- Water is supplied to Drivers colony, for a duration of 2hours every day.
- A contribution of Rs. 1 lakh was given towards the construction of a drainage pipe in Kumudavalli village, W.G. District, A.P.
