Smart Village
Dr. B.V. Raju Foundation has adopted Kovvada-Annavaram Village as a part of “Smart Village-Smart Ward towards Smart Andhra Pradesh”. Under this initiative, Foundation focuses on improved resource-use efficiency, empowered local self-governance, access to assured basic amenities and responsible individual and community behaviour to build a vibrant and happy society.
Development of approach road to the village from Bhimavaram town
- Spent an amount of Rs.1.25 crores towards providing rehabilitation to the encroachers on the main approach road by purchasing an extent of Ac.2-50 cts and distribution of house sites to 150 families. The road has been widened into four-lane from Bhimavaram to the village.
- Central Street lighting facility has been provided by Sri Vishnu Educational Society on the newly laid four lane road i.e. "BV Raju Marg" by spending an amount of Rs.50 lakhs.
- Green belt development and maintenance in the central divider and on the road margins from the approach road.
- Construction of entrance arch and 2 bus stops at the entrance of the village by spending an amount of Rs.8.00 lacs.
CC Road works in the village
- Contribution of Rs.25 lacs for laying of CC roads in Kovvada-Annavaram village as a part of matching grant. Total cost for the laying of CC roads in the village is Rs.1.20 crores.
- Donation of 3200 cement bags for laying of CC roads in Kovvada-Annavaram village.
Drinking water facility
- A Mineral Water Treatment Plant has been established under NTR Sujaladhara scheme by spending an amount of Rs.7.00 lacs in the village.
- Laying of pipe line for drinking water from Canal to the village – Contribution of Rs.7.20 lacs.
Developmental works in High School
- Setting up of a Computer Centre worth Rs.2 lacs for the school children and imparting computer education by appointment of faculty from our side.
- Development of green belt in the School.
Other Community developmental works
- Constructed a Vinayaka Temple and Church for BV Raju Colony at Kovvada village (the place given against main road encroachment sites) with worth of 20 Lacs Lakhs.
- Constructed Martin Luther & Dr. B.V. Raju Function Hall at Vellaturu(Kovvada) by spending nearly Rs.25 Lakhs.
Sanitation
- Spent about Rs.7.50 lacs towards RCC underground drainage system
- As of now, donated an amount of Rs.2 lacs towards construction of 50 individual household toilets to end open defecation Kovvada-Annavaram village. Total allocated budget is Rs.10 lacs.
Skill Development
Women Technology Park has been setup under DST worth Rs.83.58 lacs in the campus to impart training to the women of the village to improve their livelihood. Under this project, women will be trained in the following fields:
- 1) Extraction of Virgin Coconut Oil
- 2) Lace manufacturing unit
- 3) Recycling of waste paper
- 4) Solar & Biomass Dryers for food processing.
Education
- Providing scholarships / fee conessions to the students of the village who are pursuing various courses in the Institutions run by our Society.
Other Community developmental works
- Renovation of existing Church with Rs.7.25 lacs.
- Construction of small culverts and gravel road by spending Rs.3.00 lacs.
- On 04.05.2017 Dr. B.V. Raju foundation has donated Rs.1 Lac to the Bhimavaram Muslim Community for the Urdu Arabic School development
- Rs.5 Lakhs donated towards Veltur community hall.
- Moksha Dham work is under progress.
PROPOSED WORKS TO BE TAKEN UP
- Going in for drainage system in the village as the laying of CC roads has been completed.
- Planning to have a Skill Development courses to the unemployed youth in the village like Cyber Grameen (IT Basics, Web Designing, DTP, etc.), Plumbing & Electrical, Mobile Repairing, Driving, etc. to earn livelihood.
- Creating Mee Seva Center for the convenience of the villagers.
- Health camps to be organized in the village.
- To improve the grading range of the 20 non-negotiables under Smart Village Smart Ward programme framework.
- Rs.2 Lacs donation given for individual toilets construction
Expected outcomes of programme:
- Villages (Gram Panchayats)/Wards take collective responsibility to realise their shared vision of development.
- Partnerships to guide and demonstrate innovations, latest affordable technologies, and resources to facilitate and accelerate participatory, inclusive and sustainable development within Gram Panchayats/Wards.
- Trigger processes to strengthen on-going services and schemes for effectiveness and efficiency in equitable access and utilisation of entitlement.
- Significant improvement in the identified development commitments.
‘Smart Village/Ward’ encompasses sustainable and inclusive development of all sections of its community, so they enjoy a high standard of living. The 100 per cent achievement of the following basic amenities, outcomes and services in a definite time frame, is a non-negotiable condition for moving towards Smart Village-Smart Ward:
- 1) Homes for all – with access to toilet, safe-drinking water, and regular power
- 2) Every household has diversified livelihood opportunities and/or micro-enterprise
- 3) SHGs and youths have access to skills development and Village Enterprise Development with bank and market linkages
- 4) End open defecation
- 5) Has functional solid/liquid waste management system
- 6) End all preventable maternal deaths and infant deaths
- 7) 100 per cent institutional deliveries
- 8) Zero school drop outs of boys and girls up to 12th class
- 9) Functional toilet, potable water, electricity available in Anganwadi Centers, schools, health Centers, GP/Ward buildings
- 10) Malnutrition free (children below 9 years of age)
- 11) No girl-child marriages (girls below 18 years of age)
- 12) Every farm has soil health card, enriched essential micro-nutrients and diversification
- 13) with livestock and trees
- 14) Every village household has a functional bank account/PM Jan Dhan Bank Account
- 15) Every GP/Ward has its own dynamic development plan prepared by community participation
- 16) Every GP/Ward has green trees all over its geographic boundaries
- 17) Every GP/Ward has functional water conservation and harvesting structures
- 18) Every GP/Ward has functional Information Center, Computer Lab, and Mee-Seva Center
- 19) Every GP/Ward has telecom/internet connectivity
- 20) Gram Sabha/Ward Sabha are held four times a year with minimum two-thirds attendance.
- 21) Every GP/Ward has a functional grievance redressal system.
